Bug found in Chip Qualcomm, third Threatens Android Smartphone

A new vulnerability has been discovered by FireEye and reportedly could threaten millions of Android devices. The vulnerability is the risk of data theft from applications that seem harmless. According to FireEye, bad people can retrieve data sms or call history to change the setting of the Android system. The vulnerability comes from Qualcomm software package that provides new APIs for service daemon NETD used in a variety of Android devices. Devices that are most at risk are those that use Android OS 4.3 and below, although the Android version on it is also potentially exposed to a lower risk. Bugs that have been there since five years ago is considered dangerous because it would not arouse suspicion when exploited and considered as something normal. Currently there are about 34% of Android devices are still using the Android OS version 4.3 and below. Google has patched parties in the monthly security bulletin in the month of May. While Qualcomm has patched within 90 days since notified of this bug. Unfortunately, the patch is not expected to spread evenly because of the fragmentation of Android.
